Complex Supplies of Capital Equipments
While strengthening its position among important engineering companies on Czech market in its main and dominant fields, the company UNIS gradually moves towards suppliers of complete capital equipments in all professions and so the company becomes of fully range of EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) and EPCC (Engineering Procurement Construction Commissioning) provider. It concerns elaboration of project documentation of process, mechanical, civil, I&C and electrical parts, supplies of equipment and erection, commissioning and start-up of the units including performance of guarantee tests. The services and activities are completed by an offer of pre-project planning (PPP) and engineering and technical advisory services.
The company UNIS aims at projects realisation on „turn key“ basis, i.e. on the basis of contracts of EPC or EPC-M. The EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) or EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction - Management) forms allow arrangement of complex realisation of the project from initial intention up to start-up while fulfilling the fixed schedule and fixed price according to a precisely defined subject. UNIS as the general contractor offers a complex package of services from one source, including assistance in arrangement of financing by the customer.

Selection of Realised Projects
New Refinery "Antey", Krasnodar, Russia
The refinery with capacity of 6 mil. ton of oil / year with deep processing of oil. At the present time there has been processed the Feasibility Study and we help the investor to arrange financing. The company Unis will be in the position of a General Designer and Contractor. The realisation will be performed in 2012 – 2020 and there are supposed five independent phases of construction:
- Atmospheric distillation of crude oil, desulphurization of gasoline, kerosene and diesel (EURO 5), construction of infrastructure plant.
- Vacuum distillation of atmospheric residual and visbreaking (maximisation of production of vacuum gas oil).
- Hydrocrack vacuum gas oil (maximisation of diesel production)
- Hydrocrack of vacuum residual, de-asphaltising, residual gasification (to achieve maximal reprocessing depth).
- Aromatic complex (production of benzene, paraxylene)
Delay Coker Unit
In 2011, the company UNIS participated in project works on Delay Coker Unit for the company OAO Naftan Novopolock. UNIS arranges for the licensor of the technologies – the company Foster Wheeler Iberia and its co-operating sub-contractor Duro Felguera – localisation of the whole project documentation for Belarus standards and internal regulations of the client, including complete processing of auxiliary units. UNIS also participates in the design in professions of I&C and Electro. Project documentation is to be finished in 2013.
Atmospheric Distillation Unit AT-8
In 2006, the company UNIS started a significant project of atmospheric distillation AT-8 in Byelorussia, the client being the company OAO Naftan Novopolotsk. The company UNIS holds the position of general designer and it arranges detail design documentation in all the professions, supplies of equipment and start-up. The project consists of the following main units:
- Primary atmospheric distillation
- Stabilisation and consequent distillation
- Gas fractionalisation
- Iso-pentane separation
The basic aims of reconstruction include mainly arrangement of stability of supplies for products during necessary service shut-downs, when – thanks to the realisation of the project of AT-8 modernisation and consequently also the vacuum block at AVT-2 – it will be possible to perform the works in much more efficient way, without impact on processing capacities of the plant.
After reconstruction, the capacity of the unit will be 6 million ton of crude oil / year, while in the Unit of stabilisation and consequent distillation, there will be processed on extra basis 138 tons / hour of petrol from other units of the plant.
In the course of the year 2011 we succeeded to order most of the technological equipments and some devices were successfully supplied.
It is planned for the finishing of project to occur in 2013.
Atmospheric Distillation Unit AT-1
In 2007, the company UNIS obtained an important project of atmospheric distillation in Russia, the client being the company OOO Yenisey in the town of Usinsk, the Republic of Komi. UNIS holds the position of the designer and arranges supply of equipment, erection and start-up. The project consists of 2 main units:
- the main process unit of atmospheric distillation AT-1 with the capacity of 1,3 mil. ton / year, which is the technological centre of the whole complex
- block boiler house consisting of four boilers with output of 4x 8 ton of steam per hour
The special feature of the project includes nearly limit climatic conditions in the place of realisation, as the town of Usinsk is located in the distance of only 50 km from the North Arctic Circle. It is planned for the finishing to occur in 2011.
The Isomerisation unit in the Baiji refinery, Iraq, being finished within the consortium of companies Technoexport, Chemoprojekt and UNIS, where UNIS arranges design documentation and supplies for the parts of Instrumentation & Control system and Electrical parts. The assemblage was finished and the unit started in 2011.
Heater for the unit of Isomerisation C5/C6 fraction for Lurgi Astrakhan Gasprocessing Plant in Russia was realised in co-operation with its manufacturer – the company Chempex HTE. The company UNIS responded for design solution of instrumentation for the whole heater, including supplies. The heater start up was performed in 2011.
The modernisation of the LPG unit in the Panchevo refinery, Serbia, was performed in close co-operation with the Brno branch office of the company CB&I Lummus. In 2011, the company UNIS processed and handed over the implementation project in sections I&C and Electrical parts
Two units of atmospheric distillation with capacity of 70 000 BPSD in the Daura refinery and in Basrah refinery, Iraq, finalised together with the company Prokop Enginnering, where UNIS arranges design documentation and supplies for the parts of Instrumentation & Control system and Electrical parts. Successful start up of the unit in Daura was performed in the end of the year 2010 and the second unit start up in Basrah was performed in the end of the year 2011.
Referring the Vacuum Flasher unit performed in OAO Naftan Novopolock, Belarus, the company UNIS supplied realisation project documentation and supplies for the parts of I&C, Control system and Electrical parts. The unit successfully started in the mid of the year 2011.
Hydro-treating Complex
In the year 2006 firm UNIS obtained an important project Hydro-treating Complex in the Ukraine, the client being the company Neftechimik Prikarpatija in Nadvirna.
UNIS plays the role of a general designer and it closely co-operates with the companies KG Process Innovations spol. s r.o. , Cheteng spol. s r.o. and TKB Kovoprojekta Brno a.s. The project consists of four units:
- Hydrogen Desulphurization Unit
- Sulphur Recovery Unit
- Amine Treating Unit (MEA)
- Sour Water Stripper
Hydrogenation desulphurisation unit is performed on the basis of a licence of the American company UOP, the sulphur production unit is licensed by the company Jacobs. The capacity of the desulphurisation unit is 33,5 thous. BPSD.
The project started in August 2006, now being in the detail design stage – it has been interrupted. In 2010, the company UNIS succeeded to take over the project in full and to re-start it from the position of a general contractor.
Enhancing Gasoline Production Project
At the present time, the company UNIS is being performed an important project in Iraq, the client being the Iraq state company SCOP.
It is the project „Enhancing gasoline production“in the Basrah refining plant. UNIS plays the role of a general contractor and the company closely co-operates with the companies Chemoprojekt, a.s. , Cheteng spol. s r.o. and Sigmainvest a.s. The project consists of the following units:
- Hydrotreating Complex
- Reforming Unit
- Cooling Water Unit
- Flaire system
The units of raw petrol desulphurisation and reforming are performed on the basis of a licence of the French company Axens. The capacity of the reforming unit reaches 10 thous. BPSD.
Regardless complicated situation in the place of realisation, the project started in June 2005 and at the present time, there has been approved the basic and detail design and the supplied equipment is being delivered to the construction site. Supposed finishing of the project:
- finishing the mechanical part erection by the Iraq party by the end of the year 2012
- complex tests and start up of units in the course of the year 2013 (depending on erection finishing by the Iraq party)
Hydro-cracking Complex
The first important and successful project of this type was the project of construction of the Hydro-cracking Complex for the Naftan Novopolock refining plant in Belarus. It was an international project, where UNIS was the main contractor and closely co-operated with the American company Koch-Glitsch and the Italian company Gicotecnica. The project consisted of the following units:
- High-pressure Hydro-crack
- Hydrogen Unit
- Fractionalisation Unit
- Sour Water Stripper
- Amine Treating Unit (MEA)
The high-pressure hydro-crack unit was performed on the basis of a licence and engineering of the American company UOP.
The capacity of the high-pressure hydro-crack unit is 900 thous. T/year.
The project started in July 2001. Successful finishing of the project, start-up of the units and hand over to the client followed in October 2004.
Successful realisation of the above specified important projects confirms correctness of the resolution on the direction of the UNIS company, allowing its further development.
