UNIS ACTIVITIES

UNIS supplied the equipment, prepared the technical documentation of the supplied equipment, technical assessment and technical evaluation of the supplied equipment, provided the chief assembly and participation in commissioning. UNIS also arranged export financing for the project. The project was completed in 2021 with the completion of the installation works and commissioning.

A UNIQUE DEVICE

The DCU complex is equipped with instrumentation and control equipment that is unique to Naftan. This is evidenced by the fact that radioisotope level gauges, which are particularly applicable in demanding operating conditions where other methods are not suitable, were installed for the first time on each of the two coke furnaces and also on the fractionation and feed columns.

On one side of the chamber are attached the emitter sensors, on the other side - the receivers. Thanks to their data it is possible to determine the level of coke. The technical capabilities of the new device allow non-contact monitoring of the level change. The maintenance of this equipment will be carried out by specially trained personnel.

COKE CUTTING CONTROL

The most important technological units of the ultrasonic inspection equipment are combined into one multi-level distributed control system (DCS) and emergency protection system (ESD). This allows them to be controlled not only locally in the node itself, but also from the ultrasonic inspection room. A few keystrokes provide operational control of the coke cutting system and the drives for loading and unloading the product in the coking chambers. A new feature allows simultaneous control of the sour water block, compressor, coke unloading unit, rail and truck scales and flaring equipment.

Data from each node, which has its own distributed control system, is transferred to the higher level control system from where the device is controlled. In the higher level DCS and ESD, the information is processed, controlled and stored and transmitted to the factory network. To improve reliability and safety, critical equipment has been developed that contributes to a systematic method of improving plant safety and operability (HAZOP).
