Advanced jet engine for aircraft use (TREN)

The main objective of the project is to obtain a functional sample of new type of engine (jet turbine engine for aviation use) with a thrust 2000-4000N. The subsequent introduction of this engine into the product portfolio of PBS Velká Bíteš, a.s., is expected after all additional tests resulting from the specific requirements of the future installation of this engine in a flying vehicle. Simultaneous goals are the development of main components and systems for this engine (namely combustion chamber, ignition and control system).

National Competence Centre for Aeronautics and Space (NCKL)

The aim of the initialization project is to facilitate more efficient and qualitatively better use of research and development infrastructure and know-how for the needs of applied research in aeronautics and astronautics in the Czech Republic. For this purpose, a proposal is presented to link the workplaces of research institutions with the workplaces of major industrial partners in the form of NCK in order to support direct knowledge transfer and the application of the expected results of partial projects and tested technologies in industrial applications. At the same time, this will achieve a synergistic linking of the existing Centres of Competence in relation to the envisaged activities and increase the number of innovation leaders.

National Centre of Competence in Cybersecurity (NCKK)

The emergence of the NCC Center is a response to strong demand for products and solutions to ensure cybersecurity of critical and non-critical information infrastructures. The Center brings together top research institutes and long-term cybersecurity industries to do collaborative R&D in cybersecurity solutions at the HW and SW level and mechanisms for certifying security features of the products. With its industry partners, the Center will seek to deploy the solutions in the ever-growing cybersecurity market. It will strengthen the Czech industry and research at European and world level.

  • KYPO4Industry (KYPO) (2019-2020)
    Project No. TN01000077/06
The aim of the sub-project is to provide a solution based on semi-automatic creation of a digital twin manufacturing system information system allowing testing of key components and their communication to detect errors threatening the safety and stability of production facilities. The expected results of the sub-project are (i) industrial component behavior simulator, (ii) industrial application test preparation tool, and (iii) industrial application testing environment.
  • Security and Monitoring of Distributed Manufacturing Execution Systems (MOSE) (2021-2022)
    Project No. TN01000077/12
The aim of the project is research on monitoring and security of distributed manufacturing information systems. The project will design and implement software for monitoring and analysing non-functional properties of production information systems (e.g. consumption of computing and storage resources) and detecting operational anomalies in measured data. The output of the project will be a solution enabling the collection and pre-processing of data from local instances of production information systems and their secure transfer to a central monitoring centre. The monitoring centre will then provide telemetry data processing, anomalous behaviour detection and visualisation of the status of individual instances of production information systems.

Visual Computing Competence Center

Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) defined in this project will be focused on the goals described in the following text. These goals are mutually interconnected through multidisciplinary research in the field of Visual Computing (VC) and also through further applications of such a research by means of industrial partners. The individual goals respect division of the whole project into two phases – each of them will last for four years. In the first phase each goal will result in pilot version the functionality of which will be tested. The result of the second phase will be the commercial product (in some cases even the second generation of such a product). 1) Application of the results from research institutions , participating in the project, and application of the latest findings of VC in the film production. Development of special MOtion-CAPture and analysis technology. 2) Strengthening the capabilities of the consortium members to use research results on the market. Development of new business strategies for the employment of the results achieved on the market. 3) Innovation in the field of development of mobile and embedded systems that will be used in the field of VC. Development of a specific set of selected applications. 4) Research and development of new algorithms that will recognize people, cars and other objects. They will be designed for embedded and mobile systems. Development of a new detecting system for embedded applications. 5) Investigation of new visualization methods and subsequent development and innovation of applications that will use special imaging techniques (stereoscopy, 3D images, augmented reality, holography, etc.). Development of rendering techniques for mobile devices and embedded systems.

Comprehensive Affordable Aero Engine Control System (CAAEEC)

The result is a prototype of an affordable small aircraft engine control unit (CPHS), which was designed in a modification of the HW and SW solution using commercial (COTS) components for the TS100 turboshaft engine (manufacturer PBS Velká Bíteš, a.s.) The CPHS prototype was subjected to development tests on the PBS engine stand and passed qualification tests of the environment and electromagnetic compatibility according to the RTCA/DO-160G standard and with subsequent reliability analysis. The CPHS prototype controller allows both single-channel and dual-channel motor control with hydromechanical linkage. The CPHS control unit consists of the following modules: an engine processor and digital-analogue control electronics module with built-in diagnostics, a power electronics module for fuel and oil pump and starter-generator control, and a power supply and AC-DC converter module, including built-in software (application software).
